PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Prior to my role as NCCPAP’s public relations manager, its members had been regularly meeting with the IRS, testifying before members of Congress and shaping tax policy in their respective states with little to no recognition in the press. Our PR efforts significantly increased NCCPAP’s visibility as members became regular contributors to financial and tax publications.

Recognition in local and national media outlets further solidified NCCPAP members’ reputations as experts in their field. CPAs who serve NCCPAP to shape tax policy do so on a voluntary basis. Getting them recognized in publications that garnered press for the organization had a positive secondary effect by providing marketing for their own practices. This not only increased their own value in the view of their clients and prospective clients, but elevated the value of a NCCPAP membership.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NCCPAP President Ed Caine Named in Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting

Issued by the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP)

September 16, 2013, Bryn Mawr, PA -- Accounting Today just named NCCPAP (National Conference of CPA Practitioners) President Ed Caine--CPA, CFF, CITP, and CGMA--one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.”

This annual list is the accounting equivalent of Who’s Who in America and is compiled by Accounting Today, a leading provider of online business news for the tax and accounting community.

In addition to running his own practice in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Caine regularly interfaces with Congress and the IRS; he is an advocate for the implementation of tax policy changes that positively impact small CPA firms and the clients they serve.  As the second largest CPA organization in the United States, NCCPAP’s focus is geared towards helping CPA firms that typically range in size from one to 25 employees.  NCCPAP’s mission is to advocate for its members, their more than one million clients and to help CPAs run and manage their practices better.

Commenting on the current tax environment, Caine says, “The down economy has brought the government’s reduced revenue stream and the methods for its collection under intense scrutiny.  I am proud to be a member of an organization like NCCPAP because our membership is comprised of practicing CPAs who know how decisions made at the top impact their clients and their practices.  When it comes to advocacy, our members volunteer and do everything in their power to ensure smart tax policies are put in place by our country’s leaders.  Our voice is a critical part of the process.”

Caine has been an active member of NCCPAP serving on its National Board and as an officer; he became its President in 2012.  He is the Vice President of the Golden Slipper Club and Charities, Vice Chair of the Radnor Township Citizens Audit Review & Financial Advisory Committee (CARFAC) and Chair of Radnor’s Audit Committee.  Caine is also a member of the IRS’ NPL Committee, and a member of both the AICPA and the PICPA.

His extensive past business experience includes being the CFO for two businesses, and many years with major international CPA firms.  Caine is an alumnus of Lehigh University (BA) and Temple University (MBA).  He lives with his wife Jill in Bryn Mawr and has two daughters.

It has been my pleasure to know and work with Alexis Burd in my capacity as chair of the public relations committee of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. Alexis is an excellent writer, a very good listener and has been very attentive to our organization’s needs. Her follow-up with assignments has been excellent and we have achieved significant growth in our public relations activities under her guidance.
