PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Prior to my role as NCCPAP’s public relations manager, its members had been regularly meeting with the IRS, testifying before members of Congress and shaping tax policy in their respective states with little to no recognition in the press. Our PR efforts significantly increased NCCPAP’s visibility as members became regular contributors to financial and tax publications.
Recognition in local and national media outlets further solidified NCCPAP members’ reputations as experts in their field. CPAs who serve NCCPAP to shape tax policy do so on a voluntary basis. Getting them recognized in publications that garnered press for the organization had a positive secondary effect by providing marketing for their own practices. This not only increased their own value in the view of their clients and prospective clients, but elevated the value of a NCCPAP membership.

Dear (Press Representative),
Frank Abagnale is not the only noteworthy speaker to appear at the Long Island Tax Professionals Symposium’s (LITPS) Second Annual Accounting Technology Forum on June 24 and 25. Marty McCutchen, CPA, known for his regular appearances on Fox News will speak on the controversial Affordable Care Act.
The 2014 Tech Forum--held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY--is sponsored by Accounting Today and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP). Hundreds of CPA professionals, mostly from New York, will attend to discuss updates in technology and recent legislation changes (including the recent changes made to New York’s estate tax law).
If New York State were a country, it would rank as the 16th largest economy in the world. We thought your readership would be interested in hearing about what the CPAs of New York are doing to help their clients manage their money and the State of New York collect its revenue.
If you are interested in attending this forum as one of our guests, or would like to learn more about it, please contact me. My information and our press release are below.
Best regards,
Alexis Burd

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Catch Me If You Can’s Frank Abagnale To Speak at Long Island Tech Forum Next Week
Issued by the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP)
June 16, 2014, Mineola, NY -- On June 24 and 25, the Long Island Tax Professional’s Symposium’s (LITPS) Second Annual Accounting Technology Forum will be held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. Presented by Accounting Today and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP) this conference will focus principally on technology that is rapidly developing in the accounting industry and how firms can successfully adapt to new technological trends.
This year, NCCPAP Co-Chairs Donald Ingram, CPA, of Plainview, and Robert L. Goldfarb, CPA, of East Meadow, invited Frank Abagnale to be the conference’s keynote speaker. Abagnale is a lecturer, consultant, ex-con artist, and author of the acclaimed novel Catch Me If You Can. Abagnale’s expertise on fraud and embezzlement makes him one of the foremost authorities on preventing financial fraud.
Marty McCutchen, CPA, known for his regular appearances on Fox News, will lend his expertise to the tax track, speaking about the recent tax ramifications of the Affordable Healthcare Act and options for both individuals and employers.
Over the course of two days, attendees will access a variety of sessions within three main tracks: Tomorrow’s Technology, Practice Management, and Tax and Technology. Speakers will also review critical tax updates with attendees including the impact of recent estate tax law changes in New York.
Attendees will receive up to 12 CPE credits for this conference. Co-Chair Donald Ingram notes “This conference is different from other technology and accounting conferences because it provides smaller-knit sessions, which allows attendees to have more interface with the speakers and their colleagues.”
When stating why it is important for CPAs to attend this technology forum, Ingram says, “This year, Apple’s revenue is 32% from the iPhone, and seven years ago the iPhone didn’t exist. What’s going to happen to your firm seven years from now? You don’t even know what’s out there.”
